Lately, the kids and I have been doing some strange things to get just ONE more minute to complete a task, or nurse. Here’s a couple of my favourites: 1. I convinced the kids they were birds, and had to build a nest out of the blankets we keep in the family room, but they had to stay inside the box we keep them in.
2. We watched Elise dive into our little pool with all her clothes on… and this has since turned into a favourite activity. To get that cherry on top, we let her bring along her favourite ball.
3. Body decorating. You know how you’re supposed to encourage your children to stick the stickers on paper… why not hand them a page of stickers and see where they’ll stick them. …looking back, I guess this activity needs some supervision. I’m thankful none ended up on my new paint or dining room furniture. I’ll chalk that up as a win.
(in case you didn’t notice, Elise’s hair is finally long enough for pigtails!! Yay! … and I hope you didn’t notice, it’s time for this mom to buy her son a new t shirt… is he always wearing that one??)
4. Play doh. This is not creative. But it really keeps them busy for a long time. ….but get the non-toxic kind (or home made if you’re that brand of fancy); because if you’ve got toddlers, play doh time can also double for snack time. (just kidding-ish).
